First-year сadets took the oath
27-10-2016On the Eve of National Defender’s Day and Orthodox holiday of the Holy Virgin Intercession first-year cadets of National Academy of Internal Affairs owed allegiance to Ukrainian citizens.
Almost 700 cadets were greeted not only by parents, relatives and friends – the event was attended by the Minister of Interior Arsen Avakov, members of MoI Steering Committee, Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine His Excellency Shigeki Sumi, members of NAIA Scientific Board, veterans and NAIA staff.
Traditional minute of silence in honour of deceased law enforcement officers followed the opening speech.
With the last words of the national anthem and by the Rector’s order cadets took their oaths.
Arsen Avakov addressed the future investigators, cybercrime units’ members and forensic experts: «Today each of you becomes an essential part of a complex reforming mechanism. Not many young officers we have to symbolize these changes. That is why your task is to deserve the granted trust. Do not lose this trust and show that you are ready for this responsibility. The first step is taken – prove to be even better than you are expected to be».
Later the floor was passed to Rector of NAIA Volodymyr Cherniei: «You didn’t choose the easy way – but it was your deliberate choice. I strongly believe that with this choice you will demonstrate your loyalty and will never explode the reputation of the Academy by serving right and honorably».
The ceremony continued with the drum band performance, honour guard’s arms drill and vocal composition of the Academy’s ensemble.
The final route march is performed by young officers, paving their way to knowledge.
